The State of Mississippi has designated Vicksburg-Warren County as a Certified Retirement City. This is largely due to affordable cost of living, low taxes, quality medical care, recreation, educational and cultural opportunities, and most importantly - a warm, welcoming community.

Education
Vicksburg-Warren County is home to 15 public schools within the Vicksburg-Warren County School District, 2 private schools and 2 parochial schools. Five elementary schools in Warren County have successfully implemented The Leader in Me which is a whole-school transformation model based on Stephen Covey's The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People®. Two of these schools have been named the first Lighthouse schools in the state of Mississippi by the FranklinCovey Organization. Only eighty-six other schools in the United States share the title.
