Mainstreet - Historic Downtown

From a trading post in Spanish colonial days to the present "Historical District," Vicksburg is a city like none other. Sitting on the bluffs overlooking the mighty Mississippi River, historic downtown Vicksburg blends visions of the future with dreams of the past to create a pleasant experience for touring, dining, shopping, relaxing or entertainment.

You can drive or stroll on a tour of the district where cafes and restaurants offer a variety of dining experiences. Visit specialty shops, art galleries and museums, or browse through gift shops, boutiques and antique stores.

 

Outlet Shopping

Vicksburg Factory Outlets opened its doors in 1994 with excellent savings offered to its customers as well as a variety of merchandise for everyone. The center was the first to offer outlet shopping in this area. Phase I included 27 stores with an addition of GAP outlet in 1999 to total 120,000 square feet. An expansion of 8 to 10 additional stores is planned for 2005 that will include an entertainment complex for families.
Outlet shopping appeals to the many tourists that visit Vicksburg. Group tours are welcome at the outlet and special coupon books are available to tour groups and other customers. Most stores participate in a Senior Citizen Discount each Tuesday at the center.

Vicksburg Factory Outlets' 30 stores feature 20% to 70% off regular retail prices everyday. Visit Antiques Outlet, Bass Company Store, Bible Factory Outlet, Billy's Italian Restaurant, Big Dogs, Bon Worth, Book Warehouse, Casual Corner, Cingular Wireless, Claire's Boutique, The Collage, Dress Barn, Dots-n-Doodles, Discount Uniforms, Factory Brand Shoes, GAP Outlet, Kitchen Collection, L'eggs Hanes Bali Playtex, Paper Factory, Oshkosh B'Gosh, Reebok, Rue 21, Tots to Teens, Van Heusen, Vitamin World and Welcome Home.

Amenities include overnight lodging next door at Jameson Inn, Holiday Inn Express and Comfort Inn. In addition to Billy's Italian Restaurant, shoppers can dine at the restaurant/country store Cracker Barrel or China Buffet.

Indoor Mall

Pemberton Square mall is Vicksburg's only regional enclosed major shopping center. Anchored by Dillard's, McRae's and JC Penney, Pemberton Square services a seven-county trade area. Popular national retailers such as EB Games, Hibbett's Sporting Goods and Garfield's Restaurant & Pub compliment the mix of national and locally owned specialty shops, eateries and entertainment.

Pemberton Square offers programs for all ages ranging from family-orientated events, senior citizen events to mall walking.

As the city has grown, individual shopping centers have been developed in every direction. Most of these centers are built in "strip" fashion and are anchored by a major discount retailer or supermarket. Each center features its own unique complement of restaurants/eateries, services, retailers and adjoining businesses.

Vicksburg has more than 80 restaurants, cafes and nationally known chains of fast food eateries. Buffet, banquet and private dining facilities are available. Area restaurants offer a variety of dishes and atmosphere.

The retail/commercial community continues to grow and prosper. Vicksburg -Warren County is an ideal location in which to locate a new business.
